Band Bajaa Baraat *Review* by Danish Lakdawala

BAND BAAJA BAARAT
Director:-  Maneesh Sharma

‘Band Baaja Baraat’  is a fresh film spinning around the lavish Delhi weddings and how two characters chance into each others’ lives. Band Baaja Baraat is a story of Shruti(Anushka Sharma) who during her graduating days plans to get into wedding planner business. She's chirpy, fun loving, a no-nonsense girl with an ambitious, gritty attitude and full of life. Personally, this is one of the best movie of Anushka as she was perfect as Shruti.   Destiny conspires and she bumps into Bittoo (essayed by the debutant Ranveer Singh) who has virtually no ‘Lakshya’ in his life. The two become business partners and tread onto the paths of becoming wedding planners. The film, thereafter, shows the highs and lows of the opulent weddings and relationships. Set in the lavish Delhi, the film beautifully captures the heart of the city with decent music by Salim-Sulaiman. Lyrics are good with Amitabh Bhattacharya doing a credible job. ‘Ainvayi Ainvayi’ is a foot tapping number and has that Punjabi flavour which is so much replete in the film.
On the other hand Ranveer Singh has definitely given a good treat for the audience. It didn't appear his first film. A new actor is finally born who would 'bajao band' of the current actors. He's one of the promising newcomers with whom the audiences have a higher expectation.

Talking about the movie further, it is very well written and the screenplay which is done by Habib Faisal is commendable. The songs are well choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant. In the second half, the movie gets slightly predictable. The emotional scenes played by Anushka deserves an applause.

Anushka Sharma and debutant Ranveer Singh conjure up a scintillating chemistry which is hard to miss and impossible not to feel.

Light and frothy, the film doesn’t promise to be a watermark cinema. It is meant for a cosy weekend frolic and somewhat lives upto the expectations. Performances are good and overall the film is likely to do well at the box office.

On the whole, the movie keeps you entertaining till the end!!

I rate this movie as   3 stars out of 5

I'll sign off for now.. Enjoy the movie !!
